Bedroom Organization

As humans in modern day society we spend nearly 12 hours a day, on average, in our bedrooms. That’s nearly half of our lifetime spent in one room. Since this is the case, why not take the time to create a safe haven that is free of stress and clutter, and inspires you each and every day.

It’s truly worth it to put the time into organizing and decorating your bedroom so that your mind and body can rest easy, and you can be motivated to lead the life of your dreams. If you’re struggling with this process, we can help.

Many of us tend to have more clothes, shoes, and accessories than we need.  We usually store these items in our bedroom, or in a bedroom closet if we have that as an option. However, they often end up on our beds, floors, surfaces, and really all over the place. Part of the reason that this happens is because we have too many options to choose from, and we have to try three or four outfits on before we find the right one.

It can feel like a daunting task to edit your wardrobe, and if you’re having trouble getting started, we understand. Take it one item at a time and chip away slowly. Use momentum, and times when you are feeling “generous” about giving away or selling items. You can choose to hang your clothing if you have the space, or you can choose to fold, file fold, or roll your clothing as well.

When organizing and decorating a bedroom remember that less is more. One or two pieces of artwork, or a couple of nicely framed photos can bring a bedroom to life. Having a plant or two is a nice touch, just remember to get them plenty of light and water. Simple things like choosing a calming color for your curtains, sheets and pillows can have a big effect on the overall feel of your room

If you do not own a house, you might be renting a single room apartment, and therefore your bedroom also doubles as a home office and storage room for all of your other belongings. If you’re able to minimize the amount of items you own, it will make organizing easier, and allow your space to breathe a bit. When minimizing your items, you must be honest with yourself and access accurately what you actually use or need, and what you think you might one day use. It can be a trade-off, but in many cases, once the items are sold or donated you forget about them all together.

Unique DIY Bedroom Shelving

If you are able to get rid of some items, but still have too many, then it’s okay to utilize some storage space under your bed (use some nice baskets that match your color theme), or create vertical storage with shelving or hooks. It can be a lot of fun to get creative with different DIY shelving depending on the walls and layout of your room.

Having a full length mirror makes picking the right outfit much easier. A wicker basket for storing extra blankets and pillows can be a nice touch as well.  When it comes to bedside storage there are many options. You can use a typical end table with drawers, a multi layered cart or trolley, or perhaps you prefer a bedside multi pocket holder that attaches to your bed frame.

Having an organized bedroom is very important for both our physical and mental health. The bedroom is a place to rest, relax, and be inspired. Therefore the environment should reflect this goal. Give us a call today to help you create the bedroom you’ve always wanted!
